
RESTORATION SCIENCE & ENGAGEMENT INTERN
SUMMER 2025 INTERNSHIP
Restoration Science & Engagement
The Restoration Science and Engagement internship offers on-the-job training in field work, data science, and scientific communication in support of CRWA’s River Restoration program. The intern will conduct culvert assessments using NAACC assessment methods and support invasive plant removal efforts. They will support desktop GIS analysis and data analysis projects, and will plan and support community engagement events throughout the watershed.
This internship will have semi-regular fieldwork opportunities, and applicants should be comfortable working outdoors and inclement weather conditions and on uneven terrain and lifting and carrying equipment up to 40lbs.
Potential Skills Gained:
Professional experience working with a small non-profit organization
Learn about important water quality and environmental issues
Certification in non-tidal aquatic passage through NAACC
Familiarity with invasive plant identification & management
Practical use of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and data analysis
Event planning and stakeholder engagement
Modeling and creating reports on various forms of data including connectivity and watershed mapping
Research on a variety of topics such as river restoration, invasive management best practices, aquatic passability
Desired Experience:
An interest in environmental and water issues
Willingness to learn and ability to work independently
Strong verbal and written communication skills, multilingual is a plus!
Preliminary coursework in biology, chemistry, environmental science, or a related field
Experience using Geographic Information Systems (GIS) software
Access to a car and a valid driver’s license (required)
