25th Annual Charles River Earth Day Cleanup

Over 500 CRWA volunteers at 30 sites from Newton to Norfolk celebrated Earth Day by participating in the 25th Annual Charles River Cleanup! One of the largest Earth Day cleanups in the country, these amazing volunteers filled 441 trash bags, or about 9,000 lbs worth of litter. (That's 4.5 tons of trash collected from the Charles and surrounding areas!) We’d like to say a huge thank you to everyone who helped beautify the parks, forests, and paths. Your efforts make a tangible difference in and around the Charles, cleaning these spaces and keeping pollution out of our river. We are also grateful to our partners in this event who managed hundreds more volunteers at their sites in Waltham, Cambridge, and Boston: Emerald Necklace Conservancy, Charles River Conservancy, Waltham Land Trust, and Esplanade Association.

We couldn’t do this cleanup without the support of our community. Thank you to our Cleanup Champion Sponsors: Ocean Winds and Charles River Apparel; Cleanup Advocate Sponsors: Brown Advisory, Boston Wealth Strategies, and HDR; and Cleanup Supporters: Chapman Construction / Design, LeMessurier, Chase Corporation, Boston Common Asset Management, DRA Architects, Dassault Systemes, S&P Global, Audacy, and CyberArk.
