Celebrating the Public Lands Preservation Act!

PUBLIC LANDS PROTECTED FOREVER Rep. Ruth Balser and Sen. Jamie Eldridge, center, celebrate the passage of the Public Lands Preservation Act with allies, from left, CRWA Deputy Director of Advocacy Jen Ryan, Buzz Constable, Speaker Ron Mariano, MACC Executive Director Dorothy McGlincy, Clean Water Action Executive Director Elizabeth Saunders, MassLand Executive Director Robb Johnson, and Executive Director Emily Norton, and others.

What an honor to join together to celebrate the enactment of the Public Lands Preservation Act!

We are grateful for the extraordinary leadership of Rep. Ruth Balser + Sen. Jamie Eldridge, the support of Speaker Ron Mariano, Rep. Aaron Michelwitz + EEA Secretary Rebecca Tepper, the hard-working advocate Phil Sauders who championed this legislation, and ally organizations.

After twenty years of advocacy, the Public Lands Preservation Act, which requires “no net loss” of protected lands, will ensure we don’t lose critical open spaces—from state parks to small pocket parks in otherwise highly developed area—that play an important role in improved public health and well-being, reducing flooding, cleaning the air and water, and mitigating heat islands.
