CRWA, CLF Notify EPA of Intent to Sue

CRWA and Conservation Law Foundation (CLF) notified EPA of our intent to file a lawsuit in federal court over the agency’s failure to regulate properties with large impervious areas that are disproportionately contributing to stormwater pollution in the Charles, Mystic, and Neponset Rivers.

This action follows a 2019 petition from CRWA and CLF asking EPA to use its authority under the Clean Water Act to regulate these polluters to protect the Charles. To date, EPA has failed to take such action despite worsening impacts of phosphorus pollution, including regularly-occurring cyanobacteria blooms.
