Nearly $900,000 for Climate Resilience

The Baker-Polito Administration has awarded $894,000 for climate resilience projects in our watershed! This includes $333,000 for the ongoing Building Resilience in the Charles River Watershed Initiative, a regional collaboration of twenty cities and towns conceived and facilitated by CRWA, to increase watershed-wide climate resilience using the Charles River Flood Model. The project also includes assessing stream crossing culverts for flood risk and wildlife impacts, and engaging residents in climate resilience planning.

In addition, $41,000 was awarded to the Town of Wrentham to explore options for Eagle Dam, an aging, defunct dam rated in poor condition on Eagle Brook, a tributary of the Charles River. Finally, Brookline, Cambridge, Sherborn, and Waltham all received funding for a variety of projects including creating and updating resilience plans, creating a climate readiness job corps, and restoring tributaries to reduce flooding.
