Did you know that mussels can filter up to fifteen gallons of water in one day? These magnificent mollusks are vital for clean waters but are one of the most threatened animal groups in North America!

Join us for a lunch and learn webinar about freshwater mussels in the Charles! Max Rome, CRWA’s Senior Stormwater Program Manager, will speak on the importance of mollusks for water quality. You’ll also hear from Marea Gabriel, Freshwater Manager at The Nature Conservancy. In this talk, you will learn about the different native freshwater mussel species in the Charles, their fascinating biology, the challenges they face exacerbated by climate change, and the conservation measures needed to protect these keystone species.
