EXCITING NEXT STEPS FOR THE RESTORATION OF CHEESECAKE BROOK!

In just a few months, the City of Newton will break ground on two green infrastructure projects to promote infiltration and reduce stormwater pollution into Cheesecake Brook. Join our public meeting on January 21, 2025, to hear about plans for the project, how the community can get involved, and the project timeline.

THIS IS A HYBRID MEETING. RSVP BELOW TO JOIN US IN PERSON OR VIA ZOOM:

In 2020, CRWA worked with the Newton community to create a vision plan for a restored Cheesecake Brook. The results of this visioning process informed our 2024 work with Weston & Sampson to design an infiltration system for Albemarle Field and bank re-planting and stormwater best management practices for a section of the Brook. The construction of an extensive, underground filtration system will intercept and store stormwater runoff, reducing area flooding and erosion. Bank re-planting will transform a large stretch of the Brook’s bank from turf to a wet meadow of native shrubs, reducing surface stormwater runoff and supporting native wildlife.
