Meet Our 2024 Summer Interns!

From left to right:

  • Andy Atallah (he/him), our returning River Restoration Intern, is a 2024 graduate of Middlebury College, majoring in Conservation Biology. He is pleased to work in the River Restoration Program to help with GIS mapping and develop publically accessible resources on invasive plant species identification and management.

  • Ben Breslow (he/him), our Watershed Science Intern, is a rising senior at Brandeis University from Northampton, Massachusetts. 

  • Ethan Busch (he/him), our Legal Intern, is second year law student at Boston University. Previously, he earned a B.A. in Classical Civilizations and Linguistics with a minor in Environmental Science from University of Rochester. In his free time (and at work) Ethan enjoys kayaking and bird photography.

  • Genna Kane (she/her), our Development Intern, is a PhD Candidate in the American Studies Program at Boston University. Her research focuses on the environmental and architectural history of Boston's waterfront. She is looking forward to researching and applying for grant opportunities and developing materials in support of the CRWA's 60th anniversary.

  • Megan Mathieu (she/her), our Community Outreach Intern, is a rising senior at Tufts University studying Environmental studies and theater. She is passionate about community building, environmental justice, and food sovereignty and is excited to help facilitate climate resilience efforts in the watershed. Outside the office and classroom, you can find her playing frisbee, saying hi to every dog she sees, trying new foods, and doing musical theater.

  • Bareha Abbas Naqvi (she/her), our Advocacy Intern,  is a master's student pursuing a degree in Public Policy and Administration at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. As an Advocacy Fellow supported by the Civic Action Project, she is excited to explore resilience work and its real-world applications.

  • Aubrey Rahaim (she/her), our Watershed Science Intern, is a rising senior at Tufts University majoring in Environmental Studies and Community Health. She is especially excited to learn about cyanobacteria and carry out fieldwork on the Charles River.

Charles River

Charles River Watershed Association’s mission is to use science, advocacy, and the law to protect, restore, and enhance the Charles River and its watershed. We develop science-based strategies to increase resilience, protect public health, and promote environmental equity as we confront a changing climate.
